Company Formation

1988

GTT was formed in 1988 through the purchase of Canatom Inc’s NDT testing division of Global Canatom by D’Arcy Sweeney Ltd. Originally named Global Testing Technologies, GTT initially specialized in eddy current tube analysis for Ontario Hydro, as well as the various chiller manufacturers, testing heat exchanger tubes.

Nondestructive Testing

1990s

The company grew through the 1990s to acquire nondestructive testing capabilities in disciplines such as ultrasound, infrared, radiography, magnetic particle and acoustic emission. In addition, we have been in the business of oil and refrigerant analysis for chiller manufacturers

OnSet Acquisition

2004

In 2004 with the acquisition of OnSet, GTT changed its name to GTT OnSet and began marketing boiler life cycle studies, and jurisdictional compliance work for owners and insurance companies.

CM Acquisition

2019

In 2019 GTT acquired Commonwealth Manufacturing. Coupled with GTT OnSet’s in-house product lines, we offer custom made tube rolling equipment for the nuclear industry, a full line of heat exchanger tube repair and replacement equipment, tube cleaning equipment as well as replacement brushes and sundries.

Today GTT OnSET is a comprehensive Non-Destructive Testing and engineering company, providing on-site, Engineering services, and Laboratory Analysis to support a broad range of industries. We offer the widest selection of Tube Tools for Heat Exchangers, Chillers, and Boilers in Canada; as well we provide Tube Tool Repair Services and Tube Tool Rentals. Additionally, we manufacture through the Commonwealth Manufacturing division of GTT OnSET, specialty Tube Tools for the Nuclear Industry.

GTT OnSET works throughout Canada and the United States servicing customers in locations such Indonesia, Africa and Chile. We continue to be a growing part of the D’Arcy Sweeney Limited family of companies along with CTM, Cooling Tower Maintenance.
